Still Bored of Spam

Posted by Diva on July 2nd, 2010 | No Comments »

I know I’ve posted about this a few times before, but I’m still bored of the ridiculous amount of spam this blog attracts. Have they not yet worked out that I personally moderate my comments, so links about viagra, life insurance and designer sunglasses will not get published??? I almost feel sorry for them wasting their time, but then I remember that they waste mine too when I have to plough through my comments box looking for the genuine ones.

If you do actually read my blog, find it useful or have any questions, I’d love to hear from you. If you’re just doing a bit of SEO and fancy your chances here, please sod off.

Thank you!

Accepting Incalls

Posted by Diva on July 1st, 2010 | No Comments »

As I never accepted incalls during my time as an escort, this information is second hand. I have a few friends in the sex industry and have talked with them at length about their experiences, some of which were very similar to mine and some that were quite different.

An incall is when an escort invites clients into her some. There are some escort agencies that own flats and arrange for clients to meet their girls there; this is much safer, because then clients don’t know your real address. I’ve heard stories about clients who became stalkers, starting off with gifts and flowers, but their behaviour turning more dark when their advances were rejected. There’s also the risk of clients turning up at your flat without making a booking – you could be entertaining friends or family at any time, so this is always a problem.

If you do choose to accept incalls at your home working as an independent escort, it is completely legal. Accepting money for sex in the UK has always been legal – there are just a lot of laws around prostitution that can make it difficult. If you’re working alone in a flat, it’s also legal. Any more sex workers in one place is considered to be a brothel, which is against the law.

However, being completely alone when your clients visit is very dangerous. If you cannot afford any kind of security and you don’t have a flatmate who is aware of your profession, make sure you take whatever precautions you can. Keep a rape alarm close by, and if possible do some self defence classes so that you can protect yourself if necessary. You should always make sure that someone else knows your client’s details and when they are visiting, even if it’s just a friend. After you’ve finished your appointment, let that friend know you’re safe.

If you’re unsure about a client at all, don’t invite him into your home. Any sign of drug or alcohol abuse, short temper or violence should sound alarm bells in your head- no amount of money is worth putting yourself at risk.

Reputation

Posted by Diva on June 29th, 2010 | No Comments »

In my time working as an escort, I noticed that some of the low budget escort agencies didn’t see many repeat customers; their service was pretty bad, so they relied on new customers all the time. This is sustainable up to a point because of the sheer number of clients in London, but they would make so much more money if their clients returned.

Agencies don’t have much control over the girls once they’ve gone to see a client (in fact, it would be illegal for them to try to control the girls). For this reason, escorts are free to do whatever they want, often bringing agencies into disrepute. The most common reasons are that they are rude and impolite, unclean or demand extra cash for a kiss, for oral sex etc. It’s a shame, but there’s not much that can be done about it.

As an escort, independent or with an agency, all you can do is earn a good reputation for yourself. If you can get regular clients, you’ll be ensuring yourself regular work and more money, rather than relying on unstable or infrequent bookings. To do this, you need to give your client value for their money; that means staying for the full length of time you’ve booked them, and making them feel good about themselves. Agree a fixed price before the booking, and don’t ask for more; if you do well, they’re likely to tip you and book you again – that’s better than scoring an extra £20 for a snog.

Escorts can change their names and photos, but if you build yourself a good reputation, the clients will come to you.

Keeping Your Cool

Posted by Diva on June 28th, 2010 | No Comments »

In this hot weather, it isn’t always easy to keep your cool. Your make up can start to melt on your face, leaving you with panda eyes and a streaky forehead. Sleeves are to be avoided at all costs so that you don’t get dreaded sweat patches, and if you’re not careful you’ll end up with red, sunburned skin or strange tan lines. Here are a few things you can do to stay as ladylike as possible in the heat.

Woman Sweating

Invest in a few handbag sized products that are essential if you want to freshen up when it’s sweltering. For your face, get some blotting papers with a little powder on them. They’re great for people with naturally oily complexions, but work brilliantly in the heat too when you tend to go a bit shiny. You can also carry translucent powder to brush on without looking like you’ve been tangoed.

Although mini deodorants are great, deo wipes are even better. If you’ve been sweating, you don’t just want to cover up; these will wipe away any dampness and leave you feeling fresh. Avoid heavy or musky perfumes to cover up – this will only make it worse. Mini battery powered fans are good to keep you cool, so I’d recommend carrying one of those.

If you have a long journey to an appointment, you should have a shower to freshen up when you arrive. If that’s not possible, invest in some portable fem fresh products to make sure everything stays lovely!

Avoid wearing stockings in the heat – if necessary, put them on when you get to your appointment. Synthetic fabrics are the worst for making you sweat, you avoid these under your arms too. If possible, go for cotton underwear to let yourself breathe a bit.

This might sound like a lot to carry in your bag, but each thing is small and will make sure you’re fresh and gorgeous all day long!

Football Season

Posted by Diva on June 23rd, 2010 | No Comments »

Major sporting effects like the World Cup will undoubtedly affect your business when you work as an escort; with a large proportion of London’s men watching the matches, you might find that your phone is particularly quiet! Don’t worry about this, it’s completely normal. Football is very important to some men, and missing games where their native country is playing simply isn’t an option! It’s not the kind of thing they’d usually hire an escort to watch with them, and afterwards they’re likely to carry on drinking with their mates.

Afterwards, things are likely to pick up again. Men who are still celebrating a victory will feel that they deserve a treat or a reward (in the shape of a sexy woman), and those who have lost out will need some help commiserating. What better way to cheer yourself up than calling an escort over? I’ve done a few of those in the past (some under different circumstances), and you just have to remember to be sympathetic. They’ll soon forget all about their problems.

The football may still be on for a few more weeks, but don’t lose hope – the men will be back soon!

Know Your Client

Posted by Diva on June 22nd, 2010 | No Comments »

During my time working as an escort in London, I learned that there is not a specific ‘type’ of man who’s more likely to hire a call girl. Some are married, some can’t get a girlfriend. Some are bankers, some are rock singers. Some want a power trip, some just want someone to talk to; you really can’t stereotype. For this reason, it’s good to learn a little bit about the client you’re going to meet, and what kind of date it’s going to be.

There are a large proportion of men who aren’t overly concerned with what you wear to an appointment; they just want you to turn up to their hotel room with racy lingerie underneath. However, image is very important to others, especially if they’re hiring you for a specific occasion. It shouldn’t be down to the escort to do the research though; if a client has a dress code or specification, he should inform you at the time of booking and give you enough notice to prepare. For example, a day at the races may require a new hat, or a business conference might require a tailored suit.

I always tried to have at least one outfit for each occasion, but I’m sure your wardrobe will build up the longer you work in the sex industry. Soon you’ll be spoiled for choice!

High Heel Tricks

Posted by Diva on June 17th, 2010 | No Comments »

As a woman or a sex worker, you’ll know that looking good isn’t always very comfortable! High heels on cobbled streets can me a difficult task, and they also lead to painful blisters. I recently bought something that I’d been meaning to get for ages, and they’re a complete God send so I wanted to share it with you!

I won’t advertise any specific brand because there are several out there, but if you want to save your feet from torture, invest in some ballet pumps that roll up. They have thin, flexible soles meaning that they fold up very small, fitting in your hand bag or pocket. No more running across London in ridiculous stilettos, you can simply carry them there and put them on when you arrive. If you do it before meeting your client or date, they won’t even know that you bought flat shoes!

Although plasters are never a classy look, it is a good idea to keep a couple in your purse, just in case you do fall victim to blisters. Trust me, a sore bleeding heel is an even worse look than plasters! You can get them in clear or skin colour, so shouldn’t be too obvious. Just avoid the cartoon pictured one if you’re out to dinner…

Props and Angles

Posted by Diva on June 15th, 2010 | 1 Comment »

So I’ve already spoken a bit about advertising and investing money in a good photographer, but if you’re new to escorting, you might not know how to go about your pictures. What kind of background is best? What poses should you pull? Good photographers will give you some direction, but it’s good to have an idea for yourself too.

How your body is angled and positioned is very suggestive to the client. Not only do you want to show off your best features, but you want them to see what kind of girl you are. From a client’s point of view, if you’re bent over pushing your derrière towards the camera, it suggests that you might do A Levels (anal). You might actually just want to show off your pert bottom, but those looking for an A level escort would be immediately drawn to photos like this. Similarly, if you have an orgasmic expression with your mouth wide open, they may think that you’re game for OWO (oral sex without a condom) or CIM (letting him come in your mouth).

Choose outfits that complement your personality too; if you have a dom streak, black leather or PVC will give this away. If you’re a sweet, feminine girl, white or pink lace is a good idea, and if you’re particularly playful, perhaps dress up in a kinky costume. You know best what reflects your personality and the service you offer.

Props in the background can also give them some guidance; obviously a cigarette tells them you’re a smoker, or a bottle of wine shows you’re a drinker. You might have a mirror if you’re an exhibitionist or a whip if you’re a dom. Just use your imagination!

Advertising Legally

Posted by Diva on June 10th, 2010 | No Comments »

It’s not illegal to be a prostitute in the UK, but there are so many laws surrounding the industry that it can be difficult and you have to remain very discreet so that no feathers are ruffled.  It’s against the law to street walk or curb crawl, you can no longer leave calling cards in phone boxes (though it’s still very common), and it’s illegal to be a pimp of any kind or to own a brothel. This can make it much more difficult for escorts and sex workers to find new clients; however, there are plenty of ways to get round the law.

Thanks to the internet, you can make your high resolution photos and direct contact details available to the whole world. The only stipulation is that you can’t be seen to directly offer sex for money, but you can offer your time and/or your companionship. If you’re wearing a g string and bending your body provocatively in the photos, the client will be able to work out for himself what privilege he’s paying for!

If you work for an escort agency, they will usually ask you for some professional promo pictures. These may cost you a few hundred pounds to shoot, but it is an investment and will bring you much more work in. You can earn it back in a matter of hours! Any good agency will not charge you to be featured on their site, but will take a cut of your earnings. It’s in their interest to get you more work, so this is the easiest option when it comes to advertising.

If you’re an independent escort, you will have to pay to advertise online. The best escort guides with the most traffic will cost more, but will bring you more work. You could also look into advertising in paper publications, but weigh up the cost against how much more work it will get you. It’s a good idea to build your own website with plenty of photos and information about yourself; clients like to know what they’re paying for in advance.

Many believe that we should follow in the footsteps of the Netherlands and legalise prostitution; this way it could be monitored and regulated, making life much safer for a sex worker. I agree with this, but I doubt the British government will make a leap like that any time soon!

Mood Music

Posted by Diva on June 9th, 2010 | No Comments »

To be a successful escort or sex worker, you also have to be a pretty good actor. If you look bored, tired, distracted or grumpy, the client will probably have difficulty getting into it and won’t want to see you again. The problem is, nobody is in a great mood all the time – everyone has their ups and downs. I’ve had times in the past where I had some personal issues going on, and although I didn’t want to let them affect my work, it was  hard to focus on having a good time during my booking.

I’ve found that music can massively influence my mood. Acoustic chills me out, rock motivates me and pop/R&B makes me happy! I used to make mix CDs to listen to as I got ready for an appointment, and most of the time they would really cheer me up and put me in a good frame of mind. Now with all the ipods and MP3 players it’s even easier, allowing you to listen to your favourite play list on your journey. Just be careful if you’re taking these to a new client – you need to look after your personal belongings.

Everyone’s taste in music is different, but you’d be surprised at how much it can affect your mood. If you want a quick fix, try listening to whatever gets you going. Of course, it’s not a miracle cure and if you have a serious issue that’s bringing you down, you may need to address it before you can cheer yourself up.

Good luck, be happy!
